I have never seen a guitar inner heel joint like the one on this, no wonder the neck is strait it's pretty much made to never have neck problems which is why it doesn't need a truss rod at the neck base ) it does have a truss at the headstock end (under the original cover) oh and the stepped shaped nut is original on this and perfectly shaped and set. This guitar would take some beating on sound, you only have to look at how it's made and it's astonishing really. These days people buy into the term "solid top" and purchase any thrown together guitar using solid woods and do you think you are getting a better guitar? than a well made laminate? nope! So many hand made guitars using laminate processes are better than so many solid tops. I read that these are solid tops but I'm assuming not because of how well priced these are, I have laminate top classical guitars that will not be beaten by solid tops 4 times their price as they were just made to an incredibly high standard. The table wood (apparent Spruce) is very thick (about 4.5mm) and is very solid with no wood cracks it's only varnish cracking which these are prone to. These are very heavy on the laminates and hence have problems a bit like when ceramic glazing has finish cracks. When buying one of these you have to think what is more important to you condition or sound&playabilty? - If the latter is what you are looking for then this is the guitar for you and if you have not played one of these, get ready to be impressed, she blew my away and I have played guitars costing over £1000. A few areas of binding/purfling wear to note (shown) that you can feel, could do with some binding sealing in one area but no movement and nothing sinister. The back mahogany is very nice as you can see. If you look around you will see this is priced extremely well and this seems to be a less common and more attractive finish. It's very hard to sell a guitar with cosmetic problems without putting it down so i'm being harsh because of finish and dinks. The fretboard is near perfect, really hard to fault as are the frets so more good news! it's not all doom and gloom. varnish soundboard cracks, too many to single out but the guitar is structurally sound with a dead strait neck and the set up is fantastic.īridge is very secure, it once had a small gap which was neatly filled with glue but unlike a classical guitar the bridge is screwed down so there is no active lifting or movement but I have to point out anything like this to be clear of course.

Please note there are many dinks! lots of marks, scratches &. Have a listen to the youtube clip which gives you an idea of how these great guitars sound, they have their own characteristics sound wise and are perfect for country and folk music. She's an amazing guitar to play and really inspires me to experiment and write music. I have been playing in D#A#D#G#A#D# an interesting DADGAD variant and playing fast fingerpicking with hints of John Faye & Nick Drake.
